A little movement in the room will trip the system. Using a type of laser beam, photoelectric sensors are small rays of light that run across common entry ways. When an intruder walks through the laser - which is usually an infrared beam - the alarm sounds. Even though most of these are invisible and hard to find, they can be bypassed by simply not walking through them. This can be a slight drawback if not placed just right.
